The journal publishes scientific work related to health reforms in Bulgaria, information on international scientific events, new courses in General medicine, etc.

This journal is owned by the Medical University – Sofia, the oldest institution of higher medical education in Bulgaria. For more than a century, the University has been a national leader in medical education, providing high-quality training to both Bulgarian and international students.

PUBLICATION TIMEFRAME AND ACCESS

  This journal is published every two months with 6 issues annually. It provides immediate open access to its content so as to make research freely available to the public in support of a greater global exchange of knowledge. 

Each issue is also available in print, and is distributed to libraries and medical organizations etc. If you'd like to receive a print or digital copy, please subscribe.

REVIEW PROCESS

All manuscripts are subject to peer review and are expected to meet high academic standards. If approved by the editor, submissions will be considered by peer reviewers whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors (single blinded). 

FEES

Еffective 1 April 2026 the journal Medical Review introduces an Article Processing Charge (APC) to support full Gold Open Access publishing. An APC of 250 Euro will be payable only after the manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication. An invoice will be issued to the corresponding author, and publication will proceed once payment is confirmed.

Editorial decisions are made independently of payment and are based solely on the manuscript’s scientific merit and the outcome of the peer-review process.
