Abstract

Dental laboratories are an indispensable unit in the dental industry. Technological progress has significantly changed the production process, communication and their management. The purpose of this article was to examine the influence of digital technologies in the communication process between dentists and dental laboratories. Today, a significant difference can be identified in the communication between the dental laboratory and dentists, which significantly improves the service quality and patient care. Technologies such as 3D printing, intraoral scanning, face and head scanning, software and communication technologies, video conferencing, digital artificial intelligence products, etc., are widely available and are increasingly applied in practices. This review presents and systematizes information on innovations and the possibility of applying digital technologies in this direction by focusing on the types of communication algorithms: digital, analog and hybrid, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
