Author Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting an article to the journal General Medicine!

Please make sure to read the Author Guidelines  before you continue with submitting your article. 

The journal accepts articles only in English, with abstracts and metadata in Bulgarian where possible. Submissions are currently accepted only by email.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

For manuscripts submitted on or after 1 April 2026, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 250 Euro per article will be payable only after the manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication. An invoice will be issued to the corresponding author, and publication will proceed once payment is confirmed. Editorial decisions are made independently of payment and are based solely on the manuscript’s
scientific merit and the outcome of the peer-review process.  All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

1. Originality

  • The manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere;
  •  The manuscript has not been submitted for consideration to another journal;
  •  The manuscript does not infringe the copyright of third parties.

2. Authorship 

  •  All authors meet the criteria for authorship (ICMJE);
  •  All authors have approved the final version;
  •  There are no hidden or improperly included authors.

3. Open Access and Publication Fees

  • We are familiar with the terms of publication under Gold Open Access;
  •  We accept the conditions for payment of the publication fee upon acceptance;
  •  We agree to the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 publication license.

4. Submission and Communication

  • The corresponding author is authorized to communicate on behalf of all co-authors (if applicable);
  • All authors agree to this submission.
  • All authors are familiar with the "Author Guidelines" and the “Journal Policies” and agree to comply with them.

5. Copyright

  • All necessary permissions have been obtained for the use of third-party materials (where applicable);
  • All sources are properly cited.

Other articles

This Section allows for the following types of publications: reference papers, book reviews, short communication papers (letters to editor, etc.). These publications may only be subject to expert judgment by the editorial board, rather than peer review. 

Copyright Notice

Authors will be required to confirm that they agree with the following copyright notice before their submission is complete:

  • We are familiar with the terms of publication under Gold Open Access;
  • We agree to the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 publication license.
  • All necessary permissions have been obtained for the use of third-party materials (where applicable);
  • All sources are properly cited.

Authors retain the copyright to their work. However, by submitting to this journal, they grant the journal an exclusive license to publish the article and to manage its commercial use. Authors retain all rights on their publications, except the rights of publication and commercial use.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
