Abstract

Addiction to different psychoactive substances is one of the greatest challenges in front of the contemporary society. According to the latest data, cannabis is the most widely misused drug worldwide. Its action on different organs and systems is profoundly studied, despite which the misuse of cannabinoids is still considered to be connected with slight effects on human health. The present work has the aim to review the latest data connected with large-scale trials on the mechanism of action of cannabinoids and the organ damages caused by them, since the knowledge acquired from reliable sources is the first step in the recognition and coping with the problem.
