Abstract

Introduction: Nursing interventions (NI) or activities are measurable quantities that determine the effectiveness of care provided to a given patient. Quality assessment includes various approaches and tools, the main element of which are standardized indicators, which include the number, qualifications and skills of nurses, as well as/or complications that occurred in patients as a result of the care provided. Objective: The study aims to analyze students' ability to collect objective and subjective data, through rating scales, and to plan care for patients with chronic illness. Material and methods: Documentary method – was used to gather information on the effectiveness of the assessment scales in planning nursing care. A survey was also used, including closed and open questions, specially prepared to survey the opinions of nursing students from the VI, VII and VIII semesters on the researched issues. Results: It was found that the students did best with the Functional Independence Scale, where they gave a total of 49 correct answers. When analyzing the data from the survey, an increased interest in assessment scales was found, as determined by the recall rate. Almost all students (82, 94.3%) from the study group are familiar with the indicated assessment scales. The source of information is mainly lecture material according to 66 (80.5%), statistical significance was found in the students' opinion (χ2 = 30.488, df = 1, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Evidence-based health care, through assessment scales and standardized plans, would contribute to objectifying the results of the implemented interventions.
